The Jingasa is coated thickly with black lacquer, perhaps to prevent rust, and the inside is coated with red lacquer.
The red lacquer is peeling and rusting on the inside.
Musketeers often wore iron jinkasa instead of wood because they were more likely than other troops to be shot by enemy muskets.
