Toward the end of the Edo period, a higher percentage of soldiers in Japanese clans were equipped with guns, and compact jingasa were adopted so that they would not get in the way when they were in line. Such a jingasa is called a Tonkyo Bou.
The emblems on the front of Jingasa depict Circle and Three Kashiwa Leaf.
Lacquer coating is cracked or peeling in some areas.
